Minutes – Board of
Supervisors
Mr. Kliman announced receipt and acceptance of a letter from Deborah Love D’Elia resigning her position as Auditor and a member of the Open Space Committee.
The purpose of this meeting is to adopt the Budget for the Year 2002 and to consider adoption of two ordinances.
Ordinance 67(a) – Supervisors’ Compensation – The purpose of this Ordinance is to raise the salary of the Supervisors of Chadds Ford Township, a Township of the Second Class, to the maximum allowable; $1,875.00 per year. The original motion was amended. Mr. Thorpe motioned, Mr. Shipley seconded, and the Board approved adoption of this Ordinance with one minor revision. Section 2 now reads, “Said compensation shall become effective as to each Supervisor as provided by the Second Class Township Code.”
Budget 2002 – Mr. Thorpe noted that in order to justify the requested needs of Concordville Fire Company, he had reviewed sources of income other than real estate and transfer taxes and thought that the Board should consider an increase to the fire company. Mr. Shipley felt that the Supervisors should meet with the fire company over the next year in order to understand their needs, and the revenue sources for their needs, so that they could be publicized to the residents in anticipation of increasing our contribution. Mr. Shipley mentioned that there were no detailed budget numbers published, and that the vote to approve the budget would be based on summary budget numbers provided only. Thorpe motioned, Mr. Shipley seconded, and the Board adopted Resolution 2001-9 approving the Budget for 2002 based on summary line items presented. Mr. Thorpe motioned, Mr. Shipley seconded, and the Board adopted Resolution 2001-10 establishing the tax millage at .062 for the fire company and .200 for real estate tax; for a total of .262.
Ordinance 97 – Delinquent Tax Collector – The purpose of this Ordinance is to appoint the elected Tax Collector as the Delinquent Tax Collector. Mr. Thorpe motioned, Mr. Shipley seconded, and the Board approved adoption of Ordinance 97.
