Minutes – Planning Commission

October 31, 2001

The Planning Commission of Chadds Ford Township met in the Township Building on Wednesday, October 31, 2001.  The meeting was called to order at 7:35 P.M.  Present were William Taylor, Maurice Todd, Donald Honig, James Reamer and Fred Reiter.  Also present was James C. Kelly of Kelly Engineers.

Minutes

Mr. Honig motioned, Mr. Todd seconded, and the Planning Commission approved the Minutes of the September 26, 2001, meeting.

Public Comment  - none

Longview Builders (Megill Construction) Subdivision/Land Development

Jim Aiken of Regester Associates represents this Applicant for development of the 6.7 acre former Goodman property on Heyburn Road.  The comments in Kelly Engineers’ October 25, 2001, review letter were discussed.  The Planning Commission supported the waiver request for an environmental impact study, but requested that a landscape plan be prepared.  This plan will be revised and re-submitted.

Historic Preservation Ordinance

It was the opinion of the members of the Planning Commission that this sample ordinance appears that the applicant is applying for a restaurant with a bed and breakfast, and not a bed and breakfast with a restaurant.  The Planning Commission supports a limited bed and breakfast concept in the Historic District, while retaining the residential character of the District.  They felt that any proposed ordinance would need to be carefully worded to protect the Township’s interest.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:25 P.M.
