PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES

            The Planning Commission of Chadds Ford Township met in the Township Hall on Wednesday, October 11, 2006.  In attendance were Chairman William Taylor, Maurice Todd, Fred Reiter, Paul Vernon and Gary Whelan

CALL TO ORDER

Mr. Taylor called the meeting to order at 7:40 P.M.

PUBLIC COMMENT - None

MINUTES

The Planning Commission (Vernon/Whelan) motioned and approved the Minutes of the September 13, 2006 meeting, as revised.      

COMPREHENSIVE PLAN

Mr. Taylor explained that it will be necessary to create a panel to consist of one member each from the Board of Supervisors, Planning Commission, Zoning Hearing Board, Open Space Committee, and a member of the general public.  Lois Saunders has agreed to be the Open Space Committee representative.

In reviewing a Comprehensive Plan outline previously prepared by the Brandywine Conservancy, Maurice Todd suggested that the Open Space Committee be contacted to determine what portion of the outline has already been done by their consultant.  Mr. Reiter commented that he felt it should be decided whether certain land is to be preserved as open space and the remainder to be developed, or whether land to be developed would be designated and the remainder will be open space.

The Planning Commission will dedicate their next workshop meeting to a discussion of Item 1 on the Conservancy outline for a Comprehensive Plan in order to prepare information to give to a prospective consultant.

Upon a motion and second (Whelan/Todd) the meeting was adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
